The Heirloom A-2: Vintage Lambskin & Genuine Shearling
There’s a reason the A-2 has been the "pilot’s choice" since 1931, but this version isn't your grandfather’s stiff, heavy cowhide. We’ve taken that iconic WWII silhouette and rebuilt it using top-tier lambskin.
The result? A jacket that feels broken-in the second you pull it out of the box. It’s got that "lived-in" vintage brown character that usually takes ten years to earn, paired with a plush shearling collar that actually does its job when the wind picks up.
The Material: Why Lambskin?
Most flight jackets are "armor"—they’re thick, heavy, and hard to move in. By using a premium full-grain lambskin, we’ve traded that bulk for a "fluid" fit. It drapes naturally over the shoulders and doesn't "fight" you when you’re driving or reaching for your phone. The vintage brown finish isn't just a flat color; it’s hand-burnished to show high-and-low tones, giving it a depth that looks incredible under city lights or morning sun.
Real-World Utility & Warmth
We don’t just build these for looks; we build them for the elements.
-
The Collar: This is genuine shearling, not synthetic "sherpa." It’s a natural insulator that breathes, keeping your neck warm without making you sweat.
-
The Lining: Inside, you’ll find a smooth, high-density fabric. We chose this specifically so the jacket "glides" over your hoodies or flannel shirts without bunching up the sleeves.
-
The Temperature: This is your "Daily Driver" for the -5°C to 12°C (23°F to 54°F) range. It’s heavy enough to kill a winter chill but light enough that you won't feel like an oven when you step into a coffee shop or a train.
Keeping it for a Lifetime
If you treat this jacket right, your son will probably end up wearing it. Because it’s lambskin, it’s a bit more "refined" than cowhide.
-
Avoid the "Rain Soak": If you get caught in a downpour, just let it air dry on a wide wooden hanger. Don't put it near a heater—heat "cooks" the natural oils out of the skin.
-
The "Luster" Trick: Once a year, give it a quick wipe with a neutral leather cream. It will pull the "Vintage Brown" pigment back to the surface and keep it looking rich.
